What Makes Us Special

Bilingualism from Early Days

We were the first in Lithuania to introduce early foreign language teaching, based on the world-renowned immersion method, which helps children learn a foreign language in a natural way. This approach has led to the use of English as a language of communication equal to Lithuanian in both our kindergarten and school, eventually becoming an effective learning tool and a permanent means of communication and creative expression for children.

Howard Gardner‘s Theory of Multiple Intelligences in Practice

Saulės Gojus, a private school in Vilnius, bases its educational system on Howard Gardner‘s theory of multiple intelligences, which allows us to monitor a child‘s growth in a coherent and holistic way, from pre-school to the secondary school years, to recognise a child‘s strengths early on and to provide the necessary and timely support to address their learning, behavioural or emotional challenges. Saulės Gojus was the first in Lithuania to introduce an innovative tool, the Multiple Intelligences Assessment based on Gardner‘s MI model, which helps to regularly monitor a child‘s educational development and to unveil his or her personality in a comprehensive way.

The Importance of Learning to Learn

Our school is dedicated to the development of learning to learn as a key lifelong skill: a unique self-reflection system and learning monitoring tools allow students to track their own learning process and find their learning strategies that work best for them. One of the self-reflection tools is the portfolio, a continuous assessment instrument that allows the learner to see his/her personal learning journey and to consciously identify learning successes and challenges. Integrating portfolios into the school‘s assessment system provides a possibility to employ the skills needed for strengthening the learning competence and to enable all partners in education (student, teacher and parents) to share responsibility for the child‘s future learning achievements. A dedicated time in the curriculum and a coherent mentoring programme are used to reinforce the learning to learn skill. Guided by professional educators and personal mentors, students have the opportunity to develop excellent independent learning skills that will help them to succeed in their future academic and professional careers.

Attention to Every Child

Every child is unique, which is why Saulės Gojus private school in Vilnius tailors the educational process to individual abilities and needs. Two teachers working in the pre-primary and primary classes (and personal mentors in the primary school) can give more individual attention to each child, encouraging their strengths and helping them to overcome challenges.

Primary and Secondary School

Primary School

Saulės Gojus, a private primary school in Vilnius, is a place where children not only learn to read, write and count, but also to communicate, work as a team and solve everyday problems. Primary school is the time when a child acquires his or her first learning tools and begins to discover his or her strengths. That‘s why we focus on developing independence and encouraging curiosity at this stage of education. We also want primary school classrooms to be a space where children feel safe and confident to explore the world, which is why we don‘t write grades or assign homework.

Secondary School

Here, education becomes even more focused, with a broader range of subjects and a greater emphasis on independent thinking and proactiveness. Modern teaching tools, innovative methods and dedicated teachers help students build a solid foundation of knowledge and prepare them for the next stage of their education. Our secondary school is a coherent continuation of the primary school, aiming to transform traditional teacher-centred instruction into self-directed learning. A unique system of self-directed learning, reflecting the way a student works at university, and the support of personal mentors, allows our students to follow their own learning process and find the learning strategies that suit them best. In addition to academic education, a strong focus is placed on students‘ emotional well-being and their ability to deal effectively with communication challenges.
