Primary school is an important time in a child‘s life, when he or she takes the first serious academic steps and begins to develop independence and cooperation skills. The team at Saulės Gojus primary school strives to create an environment where every child feels safe, supported and confident to grow both academically and emotionally every day.
In the primary grades, the educational process is most effective when it is based on experiential learning: when children are able to experiment and to explore the environment outside of school. In the early stages of learning, it is crucial to not just build knowledge, but also to develop a love of learning, self-confidence and the ability to work as a team, which is why we aim for our primary school children to play through learning and to learn through play.

Our primary school in Vilnius is a place where we strive for a balance between academic knowledge and general competencies. It is important to us that our students not only perform well academically, but also develop critical and creative thinking, communication and problem-solving skills.
This is why children learn not only to count and read, but also to reflect on their actions, formulate their thoughts, respectfully debate with each other and critically analyse the world around them. We are convinced that a child‘s strong emotional and social skills enable him or her to achieve academic results more easily.

Education at Saulės Gojus primary school (and later at the secondary level) is based on the integration of educational content: the fragmented themes of individual subjects are combined into a common context of meaning, thus ensuring a holistic, real-life understanding of the world, as well as promoting motivation for learning, and a sense of the meaning of learning. Thematic learning is complemented by projects that link several subjects together. Primary school students are given the possibility to develop skills in different areas, e.g. weekly lessons in theatre, chess, IT and aikido are included in the timetable alongside the core subjects. Children are encouraged not to be afraid to make mistakes, to learn from experience and to discover what they like and do best. Individual strengths are taken into account, helping each child to find the best way to learn, which will be of great use in the future when they have to learn on their own, solving life‘s challenges.
